A rainy Seoul day is not automatically an indoor-attraction checklist. First decide whether you need to shorten walking or replace a whole outdoor segment, then keep the route on the same side of the city.

Light rain may only require shorter links and more breaks. Heavy rain can make one outdoor direction unworkable and needs a real replacement.
Do not add indoor stops without deleting the movement they replace.

A central museum works best when it connects to the existing central route, lunch and the hotel return. It should not create a second city crossing.
Use it as one block, not a reason to chase every indoor venue.
In Hongdae, do not return to the centre just because it is indoors
Hongdae has cafes, shops and indoor options that can keep the afternoon local. Moving to central Seoul merely for “indoor” can waste more time than rain does.

It works when the group wants a long rest and the location fits the final return. It does not replace a daytime plan if it forces another transfer.
Check entry conditions, facilities and timing for the actual venue.
When a suburban day gets rain, first decide whether to postpone the whole day
If the main value is outdoors, moving the entire day is usually cleaner than collecting unrelated indoor stops. Keep the day for an activity that genuinely works in rain.
Do not let sunk travel time decide the route.

One wet day is not enough to move bags. Change base only if following nights and mornings already use another side of Seoul.
Otherwise use the existing hotel as the reset point.
With children or tired companions, keep one afternoon that can return to the room
Rain, wet shoes and different walking tolerance make a nearby hotel break valuable. Plan one shorter local block rather than forcing a full-day replacement.
The room can be the best rainy-day buffer.
On arrival or departure rain days, luggage decides the range before the indoor list
Start with bags, check-in and the airport connection. An indoor attraction that creates a difficult luggage transfer is not a practical fallback.
Keep the route close to the station, hotel or airport line.
Indoor does not mean reservation, closure and companion conditions disappear
Confirm hours, closed days, ticket timing, age rules and whether the group actually wants the activity. Indoor capacity can still create queues.

- Is this light rain or a whole-direction replacement?
- Does the substitute stay on the same side?
- Are luggage and the final return protected?
- Are reservations and opening hours confirmed?
- What is the first stop we can drop?
