What you are really buying is the option to return to the room during a Dongdaemun evening
Novotel Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun is at 238 Eulji-ro near Dongdaemun History & Culture Park. That location matters when the evening itself is layered: DDP or a design event, Gwangjang Market, shopping, dinner and perhaps another round out later. The ability to drop bags, change clothes or let one person rest can be more useful than shaving a few minutes off a single metro trip.
Write down the final stop of each day. If two nights end around Dongdaemun, Euljiro, Gwangjang Market or eastern Jongno, this base has a repeated job. If only one day passes through the area and the rest of the trip points west or south, return to where to stay in Seoul before letting one strong hotel pull the entire itinerary out of shape.
“Hotels & Residences” does not mean every room has a kitchen
This is the easiest booking mistake to make. The property name combines hotel and Residence inventory, so booking results may show standard rooms, suites and apartment-style products together. Some Residence products include kitchen facilities and more complete living space; standard hotel rooms should not be assumed to include the same features.
Families, three-generation groups, longer stays or travelers who need room-based breakfast or extra living space should confirm the exact room name, bed setup, occupancy and listed kitchen facilities before comparing views or total price. For two people staying briefly and spending most of the day outside, paying for a larger apartment-like layout can simply create unused space.
The pool only counts if your itinerary gives you time to use it
Indoor and rooftop pools are easy to value from photos and easy to miss in real life. Property rules can involve reservations, limited sessions, one-use-per-day conditions, indoor-versus-outdoor choices, age limits, maintenance or seasonal changes. Recheck the conditions for your actual stay before treating a pool as part of the room value.
If you arrive late, have an evening event and leave early the next day, the pool should not be priced into the decision. It starts to matter when you deliberately keep part of an afternoon free in Dongdaemun.
A late-shopping hotel and a universal first-time Seoul base are not the same thing
If you expect to buy clothes, beauty products or design goods, or have an evening event around DDP, being able to return to the room can be more useful than a generic station-distance ranking. But if your mornings are around Gyeongbokgung, afternoons in Yeonnam and nights in Gangnam, Dongdaemun is not “close to everything.” It is simply one central-east base.
