Playce Camp Jeju: first ask how many waking hours you will actually spend in a 9.7㎡ room

This review uses a ROOM-HOURS GATE. The current official Standard is 9.7㎡ with a 1350×2000 Double, standard occupancy of one and a maximum of two. Standard+ is only 11.2㎡ and mainly adds a Seongsan Ilchulbong view. Deluxe jumps to 19.4㎡ with a 1700×2000 King and a specifically listed working space. The first booking question is therefore not “is the room too small?” It is whether you need a sleep space or a living space.

019.7㎡ is not a verdict; it is a usage condition

Playce Camp currently lists the Standard at 9.7㎡ with one 1350×2000 Double bed, one bedroom and one bathroom, standard occupancy of one and a maximum of two. Views can be Plaza, City or Forest. A solo traveler with a carry-on and two adults each carrying a full-size suitcase can both be “within capacity,” yet they are buying very different levels of floor friction.

So this guide does not label 9.7㎡ as simply too small or great value. Picture the most common evening instead. Will two people change clothes at the same time? Will both suitcases stay open? Does anyone need to sit down with a laptop? If most answers are no, a compact room can be an efficient saving. If most answers are yes, the low rate is partly being paid back as repeated inconvenience.

02For two people, stop asking “can we fit?” and ask what happens when one suitcase is open

OTA maximum occupancy tells you whether the booking engine allows the room. It does not tell you whether two people can use it comfortably. Standard has one Double bed and only 9.7㎡. Two adults with small bags who leave early and return late may be perfectly fine. Two large suitcases, camera gear, shopping bags or equipment for the next day's route change the equation. In that case the fair comparison is not another 10㎡ room—it is Playce Camp's own Deluxe.

03Standard+ and Deluxe solve different problems: one buys a view, the other buys usable space

The point is to separate guest count from usage. Standard and Deluxe can both reach Max 2, but Standard is a compact sleep product while Deluxe explicitly adds working space. Two sightseers out for 12 hours may not use the extra area. A solo remote worker using a laptop for two hours may need it more.

04Shared spaces can replace some room time—but only if you actually use them

Playce Camp currently describes itself as a “camp not a hotel.” Its on-site food and drink options include ttt COFFEE, Spinning Wolf and Wero, while facilities include Club Laundry, a convenience store and meeting rooms. Current Club Laundry information lists the coin laundry as open 24 hours, with arcade games and coin karaoke until 22:00. This helps explain how a 9.7㎡ room can work: the product assumes part of your waking life happens outside the room.

That trade-off has limits. If you value quiet, want to shut the door at night, need privacy with your travel partner or dislike leaving the room in bad weather, shared space has a low substitution value. For a solo traveler who spends the day sightseeing and already eats and drinks outside, a “small room, bigger camp” can be a sensible exchange.

05A Seongsan base only pays off when you reuse it across multiple east-Jeju stops

Trip.com's exact-property page currently places Gwangchigi Beach at about 0.55 km and Jeju Olle Course 2 at about 0.6 km. Booking.com confirms the address at 20 Dongnyuam-ro, Seongsan-eup. That makes Playce Camp a natural base for Seongsan, Seopjikoji and Aqua Planet Jeju, but location only turns into saved time if you actually stack two or more eastern stops across consecutive days.

If Seongsan Ilchulbong is just one stop while most of your trip is in Jungmun, Aewol or Jeju City, do not move east simply because the room rate looks attractive. For more complete resort-style group space, compare Phoenix Island Jeju, where the decision is almost the opposite: very large rooms, but a kitchen that does not mean self-catering.

No rental car is not an automatic deal-breaker either. The current official traffic guide lists two free airport-to-Playce shuttle departures per day, leaving the airport at 12:00 and 16:10 and arriving at Playce at around 13:10 and 17:20. Return departures are around 10:30 and 14:40, first come first served. It also lists airport express bus options including 111 and 101. Check those times against your actual flight before booking; “has a shuttle” is not enough.

06Do not compare the “cheapest Playce Camp rate”; lock the room product first

Booking.com, Agoda and Trip.com all currently have exact-property pages for Playce Camp Jeju; the Trip.com exact property ID is 8361667. Compare the same dates, exact guest ages, full room name, breakfast inclusion, cancellation terms and final tax-included total. Standard+ is a view product while Deluxe is a space-and-work product, so sorting them by “two-person room price” alone is not a clean comparison.

07Final answer: turn “small room” into a cost you can measure

Good fit: solo travelers or light-packing couples spending consecutive days in eastern Jeju, staying out most of the day and happy to use shared food, drink and laundry spaces. In that case the compact room is a clear product rather than a compromise.

Upgrade the room first: two people with large luggage, anyone working on a laptop, travelers expecting rainy-day room time, or people who know they will eat, organize gear or spend longer evenings inside. Compare the 19.4㎡ Deluxe before abandoning the property; you may need a different room product, not a different hotel.

Look elsewhere: larger families, travelers who need a real living room or multiple bedrooms, or itineraries that are not centered on eastern Jeju. In those cases the low room rate can become false economy if the base itself does not serve the trip.
