A couple and a family can pay the same room rate and still be buying two different resort products. The hotel currently defines Adult Pool as a 19+ facility, while Family Pool is open across age groups. That age line directly changes how much of the resort premium your party can actually use. Before asking whether the pools look good or whether a five-star resort is “worth it,” ask a simpler question: can your group use the headline facilities together?
- Two guests aged 19+ who will spend an afternoon or evening at the hotel: Adult Pool can become a genuine differentiator, making the resort premium easier to justify.
- Traveling with children: do not count Adult Pool as shared family value. Price the stay around Family Pool, Indoor Pool, kids facilities and your real resort time.
- Out sightseeing from morning to night: even if you qualify for every facility, near-zero usage can turn a high resort rate into an expensive room you mostly sleep in.
If both guests meet the age rule and already plan to stay at the resort, the adults-only zone becomes a real part of the product.
Adults may qualify individually, but that does not mean the whole party can use it together. Shift the comparison to Family Pool and kids facilities.
Current pool rules require children under 1.3m to wear a life jacket and be accompanied by a guardian. “There is a pool” does not automatically mean hands-off downtime for adults.
If you leave early and return late, room fit and location deserve more weight than a long facility list you have no time to use.
The 19+ line separates “the hotel has it” from “you can use it”
The Shilla Jeju currently divides its Soombi Spa Zone into Adult Pool, Family Pool and Indoor Pool. Adult Pool is restricted to guests aged 19 and over; Family Pool is the all-ages zone. This is not a minor condition. It changes the resort's strongest selling point depending on who is traveling.

| Travel party | Adult Pool | Family / Indoor Pool | Value to count | Common regret |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Two adults aged 19+ | Eligible | Eligible | Adults-only pool + evening / half-day resort time | Filling the itinerary and only returning to sleep |
| Adults + minor children | Not usable together as a family | Main shared pool zones | Family Pool, Indoor Pool, kids facilities | Treating Adult Pool marketing as a family facility |
| Child under 1.3m | Not applicable | Use subject to safety rules | Supervision time, life jacket and actual pool window | Assuming adults are fully free while the child swims |
| Out 10+ hours a day | Low use even if eligible | Also potentially low use | Room, breakfast, location and cancellation | Paying for a facility list without a real usage window |
It simply makes the comparison reflect your trip. The Shilla Jeju can still be an excellent family fit, but the reasons should be Family Pool, kids facilities, Jungmun resort time and room fit—not Adult Pool. In the other direction, an adult couple that never swims should not automatically treat Adult Pool as an upgrade benefit either.
With children, resort value shifts from pool photos to what the family can actually do together
The hotel's current Activities system still lists Kids' Facilities, G.A.O. and Soombi Garden as part of the guest experience. Their value to a family depends less on how long the list looks and more on whether the child's age qualifies, whether adult supervision is required, whether an activity needs a reservation or extra payment, and whether you are at the hotel when it runs.
For example, the current Kids Cabin page lists participation from 37 months to 12 years and limits use to guests joining designated programs. G.A.O. activities can also set separate age, monthly program and fee conditions. “Kids facilities” therefore does not mean every children's activity is free and available on demand.

The room is not the first question here, but “five-star” does not replace the 40㎡ reality
The current official room overview lists Standard, Deluxe and Terrace at around 40㎡, with Premier around 46㎡; bed type and view then vary by category. Once you have worked out which facilities your party can actually use, the second layer is whether the room itself fits the travelers.
For families or three-person stays, do not infer legal occupancy from “40㎡ looks large enough.” OTA inventory changes with dates, adult and child ages and room stock. Enter the real party size first, then compare the same bed layout instead of starting from the lowest headline price.
Adult Pool, Spa Zone, evening pool time and Jungmun resort rhythm can form a complete stay. This is when the facility premium belongs in the room-rate calculation.
If Family Pool, Indoor Pool and kids facilities can form a real afternoon-to-evening block, the family resort premium is doing useful work.
If Seongsan, east Jeju and west Jeju fill every day, an expensive Jungmun resort may function mostly as a bed. In that case, compare the base and room before the resort package.
The most expensive mistake is not booking an expensive resort—it is paying for value your group cannot use
A resort like this cannot be compared only as “room price divided by nights.” A better method is to list the facilities your party can actually use together, then count how many hours each day you will be at the hotel. The Shilla Jeju's differentiation for two adult travelers is naturally different from its differentiation for a family with children.
For a family, Adult Pool does not need to be treated as a negative; simply do not count it as shared family value. For two adults who deliberately leave an afternoon free, the 19+ zoning may be exactly why The Shilla Jeju wins over another large Jungmun resort.
- Enter the real adult and child count, including children's ages.
- Remove facilities your group cannot use together from the value calculation.
- Lock the same room, bed type, breakfast and cancellation conditions.
- Only then compare the same-date final price on Booking.com, Agoda and Trip.com; do not compare the lowest displayed prices for different products.
Once traveler ages and your actual resort window are clear, the booking pages become useful. All three links below point to The Shilla Jeju's property page. Prices, room types and refund conditions vary by date; KoriNavi does not claim any platform is permanently cheapest.
When The Shilla Jeju is probably the wrong buy
If you spend every day crossing Jeju and barely stay at the hotel, do not pay for resort facilities by default. Jungmun is not the transport center of the island. If the plan is early departures and late returns, putting the budget into a base that better matches the day's direction can make more sense than booking a facility-rich resort you rarely use.
Families should also recalculate if Adult Pool was a major part of the initial appeal. This does not mean excluding The Shilla Jeju. Reprice it around Family Pool, Indoor Pool, kids facilities and the room. If those also go largely unused, the five-star premium needs another strong reason.
