This guide assumes you have already chosen western Jeju over eastern Jeju. If not, start with East vs West Jeju. Once you have two or more west-side days, stop treating Iho, Aewol and Andeok as one hotel zone. The useful question is where your mornings start and where your evenings end.
WEST-BASE EXIT COST
- First stop: write down the first real stop of each west-side day.
- Last stop: write down where you are before dinner or before returning to the hotel.
- Repeat days: moving your base makes more sense when the same direction repeats for at least two days.
- Property second: only after choosing the micro-zone should pool, view, breakfast and room type decide the hotel.
Iho Edge: keep airport and Jeju City flexibility
Use Iho when western Jeju is only part of the trip and you still need the airport or Jeju City before or after it. You are not moving deep west; you are keeping a north-west edge base that can still serve arrival or departure logistics.
The representative property in the Chinese source is Shilla Stay Plus Iho Tewoo Ocean Front. Do not treat its ocean view or pool as a reason to change the whole itinerary. First make sure an Iho base already makes sense.
Aewol Core: move here when Aewol itself repeats
Aewol becomes a real base when ARTE MUSEUM, 9.81 Park, the Aewol coast and nearby cafes are used across more than one day. If you keep finishing in Aewol and then driving back north every night, the hotel is creating the return trip you were trying to avoid.
Stanford Hotel & Resort Jeju is the representative property in the source. Its own room and floor-access trade-offs are a separate property decision; do not let a hotel photo choose the area for you.
Andeok Deep West: only when the south-west forms a block
Move deeper into Andeok when Jeju Shinhwa World and south-west attractions form a continuous part of the itinerary. This is where a south-west hotel can start removing repeated return drives rather than adding another hotel move.
Landing Jeju Shinhwa World is the representative property. If the water park, Big3 or breakfast matters, verify the exact rate instead of assuming every benefit belongs to every room-only booking.

Rain, children and late returns amplify a bad base
On a dry self-drive day, a poor base can be hidden by “we have a car anyway.” In rain, after a late dinner, or with tired children, the return leg becomes much more expensive in time and energy. If a base still feels reasonable in the worst realistic version of the day, it is much more likely to be the right one.
